We raise both Cornish Cross and Freedom Ranger chickens. Freedom Ranger is a breed developed in France to meet the high standards of the French Label Rouge Free Range Program. This a very delicious and hardy breed.
Our chickens are raised on grass in "chicken tractors" like the one pictured on the left. The tractor is used to protect the chickens from predators while allowing them to be outside on grass. The tractor is moved daily so they can eat fresh grass constantly. The grass produces desirable Omega 3 fats and improves flavor.
In addition to the grass, the chickens are fed organic feed. They are given no hormones, antibiotics, herbicides, pesticides or fungicides. The feed contains no GMO corn or soybean meal.
The chickens are killed and processed by Munsell's Poultry Processing in Fowlerville. The chickens are left whole or cut up and frozen in vacuum bags. This is a USDA approved facility for poultry.
