Our cattle are Hereford-Angus cross.
We chose this type because they do well on grass and hay alone. Two years ago we bought 2 Red Poll bulls so the calves now have that breed added to their genetics. Red Poll cattle do well on grass and have a finely textured, desirable meat. The Queen of England has this breed of cattle if that is impressive to you.
We market our beef by the cut at Argus Farm Stop and at the Chelsea Winter Market which runs from the end of October to the beginning of May. The market is on Saturday mornings in the Chelsea Educational Center on Washington Street. The beef is butchered at Countryside Quality Meats in Union City and Hillsdale County Meats, in Hillsdale County. Both facilities are USDA approved.
