Grass Fed Beef
Our cattle are Hereford-Angus cross now mixed with Red Poll.
We chose this type because they do well on grass and hay alone. Two years ago we bought 2 Red Poll bulls so the calves now have that breed added to their genetics. Red Poll cattle do well on grass and have a finely textured, desirable meat. The Queen of England has this breed of cattle if that is impressive to you.
We market our beef by the cut at Argus Farm Stop, the New Chelsea Market, and Agricole in Chelsea. The beef is inspected and butchered in a USDA facility.
This year we will be selling in a different way at the Chelsea Farmers Market. We have decided against selling face to face because of the Covid 19 epidemic. We will be selling online for curbside pickup in Chelsea on Saturday.

Naturally Raised Lamb
We purchase feeder lambs locally in May. We purchase meat lambs that do well when raised primarily on grass and hay. The grass fed literature is clear that feeding corn and soybean meal to ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats) damages their stomachs and liver. We feed our lambs grass, hay, flax seed (to help build their immune system), kelp, and small supplement of cracked oats and dry molasses.
We do not use hormones and antibiotics. In May we purchase meat lambs that do well when raised primarily on grass and hay.
We are almost through selling lamb by the cut at both Argus Farm Stop stores in Ann Arbor, the New Chelsea Market and Agricole in Chelsea. We expect to have lamb again beginning in late November.
